Lawnmowers Information
History
The first mowers were animals. They grazed on the lawns in France around the 1700's and kept them short. Edwin Budding got the first patent for a mechanical mower described as "Machines for mowing lawns, etc." in 1830. They were so large they had to be horse drawn. The first patent for reel mowers came in 1868 by Amarish Hills. In the 1890's steam powered mowers were created and used and finally, in 1919 Edwin George patented the modern gasoline powered mower. Since then we have seen riding lawnmowers come into fashion and now robotic lawn mowers.
